What It Is

It is what it is.
I find myself repeating this a lot these days. Most of the time it is a comforting mantra that I use to find calm and center myself so that I can continue moving forward towards whatever it is that comes next.
Sometimes it is a painful reminder that life has taken a sharp turn from the path that I carefully planned and held onto with a white knuckled grip even as it slipped away.
It is what it is, not what it could be. People are who they are, not who they were or who they could be.
I am who I am and the Universe has my back. She has gifted me with sweet loving (albeit volatile) children. She has surrounded me with understanding and supportive family who are always willing to lend a set of helping hands. She has placed wonderful women in my life who know when to listen, know when to tell me to pull up my big girl panties and get over it, and know when to lift my spirits with a slap on the butt and a “get it girl”.
Life is mercurial, always fluctuating. At any moment in time though, it is what it is. That’s all that it can be.
Today I am ok with that.
